PAT Testing Service.
PAT testing is the periodic inspection & electrical testing of appliances in the home or work place.
There are many reasons to why portable appliance testing needs to be carried out on a regular basis. If you are a landlord you have a duty of care under the The Consumer Protection Act 1982 and The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. I have written an in depth guide to Landlords and their responsibilities here.
To dispel another myth about the frequency that PATesting needs to be done, in the old days the rule of thumb was yearly & that the only things that need to be tested were items fitted with a 13A plug. Now the rules apply to everything including your built in oven, integral fridges freezers. In commercial premises it would also include vending machines IT equipment here is a table showing the required intervals for appliance testing & the different classes of equipment.
Landlords you are undoubtedly aware of the gas safety certificate & what's involved there; but I get lots of Landlords contacting me for "LandLord Certificate" of which there isn't a specific landlords certificate what it actually is, is an "Electrical Installation Inspection Report" previously known as a "Periodic Inspection Report" or "PIR". Covered within this certificate is a full electrical inspection & testing of all fixed wiring in the property. Our company offers as an extra bonus - as we are on site conducting an electrical inspection, we will PAT test up to ten portable appliances at the same time for FREE.
